  • Parents will be kindly asked not to enter our premises unless absolutely necessary

Implementing a System of Safe Management Measures for our Classrooms

  • To ensure 1-m social distancing, new tables and chairs will replace some of the existing furniture in our smaller classrooms
  • Rearrangements of current furniture will ensure 1m safe distancing
  • Tapes are installed to demarcate boundaries clearly inside the classrooms

2) Small and safe class size of 6 students

  • No make-up students will be scheduled for classes with 6 students
  • Labels are placed on each chair so that students know where to sit

3) New in-class rules to minimise physical interaction between teachers and students

  • Students do not have to walk to the front of the class to submit their work for marking
  • Teachers will go through answers from where they are seated
  • No side-by-side interaction allowed

4) Wall-mounted hand sanitiser dispensers will be installed at all branches

5) Face shields for teachers will be mandatory

On top of the above measures, we have set up strict measures for our staff. In keeping the Write Edge team safe, we will, in turn, keep your children safe.

Safe Management Measures for Write Edge Team

We have set up monitoring plans and systems to ensure that all Write Edge staff are in compliance with all safety regulations.

1) Work From Home where possible

Employees who can, will continue to work from home.

2) Working onsite with adjusted, staggered hours

Write Edge Essay Writing Competition Results

This June Holiday, Write Edge held its first-ever Essay Writing Competition to continue to encourage students to hone their writing skills and keep them thinking creatively. We were heartened to see many students endeavouring into unique storylines and intriguing characters, from murder mysteries to moral dilemmas, just to name a few.

After sieving through numerous candidates, we would like to congratulate our top two writers – Kendra Tay (P5) and Dylan Kong Jia Le, (P6). The winners’ adept writing capabilities brought their captivating plots to life, capturing the audience’s attention. We would also like to recognise 10 budding writers whose work have stood out. Congratulations!

1st Place

Kendra P5 A Dispute, LAS

When she saw our siblings’ brawl, she was utterly speechless (*Show-Not-Tell: Say*) and was bewildered.  (*Varied Sentence Structure*) Upon hearing her thundering footsteps, we immediately disentangled ourselves and got up from the floor. Our mother had her arms akimbo (*Show-Not-Tell: Do*)  as she impaled us with an icy stare. The room was deadly silent and only the drip-drop of the rain which had now slowed into a drizzle could be heard. “She is your one and only sister! How could you fight with each other!” Mother fumed as she thrust her finger at both of us. (*Speech, Speech Tag and Action Tag*) Tears threatened to spill down on my cheeks (*Show-Not-Tell: Look*) as mother turned and left without another word.

(*Personification*) Guilt gnawed at my heart. For a moment, I was left to my own thoughts. I should have not fought with my sister over a silly book. “I am so sorry!” I apologised profusely as I faced my sister. Not wasting another minute, I gave her a reciprocal hug. We resolved our conflict and promised to share all our things with each other. We should cherish the time spent with our siblings and not waste it away with petty fights. Our relationship grew stronger with each passing day. (*Mature Reflection*)

2nd place

Dylan Kong P6 A Surprising Visit, Minton

It was the day. The day of my birthday which I had so dreaded. To make matters worse, I even had to go to school on that day. My parents had already left for work by that time so I had to take the bus to school. I carried my schoolbag which weighed like an elephant and walked to the bus stop. (*Gloomy Weather Description to Foreshadowing the Upcoming Scene!*) The clouds in the sky darkened and it turned gloomy in a split second. The roars of thunder filled the air as lightning flashed overhead. A thunderstorm was ominous. “What an amazing addition to an already splendid day” I remarked sarcastically to no one in particular.  I had forgotten to bring my umbrella which my brother had reminded—when he was still around. Just as I was about to break down, a loud horn sounded and startled me! (*Varied Sentence Structure*) Momentarily stunned by the horn, I turned around, wanting to give the inconsiderate driver a piece of my mind. The driver was in a convertible, with the roof down. (*Character Description – Physical Appearance*) He was wearing cool aviator shades and a branded leather jacket to match. He sported a pair of ripped jeans, which was all the rage now. This reminded me of my brother, a fashionable person who kept up with the times.
